Glass Birds Collection by Oiva Toikka

I'm not into birds (actually, I pretty much know nothing about birds), but I am a sucker for beautiful glass art. Professor Oiva Toikka, an internationally renowned artist, is among the greatest names in Finnish glass art. He is best known for the amazingly vivid and bold Glass Birds collection. The Birds are highly sought after as gifts and collector's pieces. Each bird is signed "O. Toikka Nuutajärvi" as a proof of authenticity.

Jonathan Saunders for Atelier Swarovski

I first learned British designer Jonathan Saunders's name from Target's Go International series, as I did with many other emerging fashion designers. I loved his very architectural and graphic style, and ended up buying a couple of pieces from his Target collection. Recently I found out that in October, along with his collaboration with Target, Jonathan Saunders also released at KABIRI a crystal jewellery collection that he had created for Atelier Swarovski. The graphic collection includes cylindrical and circular pendants, rings, and leather bracelets.

Gold plated ring with crystal detailing.

'Tuscan' white crystal, silver and gold plated bolt pendant on white leather.

'Tion' black crystal and gold plated double ball necklace. On leather cord.

'Beru' black leather wrap around bracelet with a gold plated buckle and black crystal sections.

Barack Obama Custom Sneakers

The images of President Elect Barack Obama are everywhere, even on the sneakers. Sneakerobsession.com showcased several custom-designed Obama sneakers: Obama Nike Blazers & Dunks by TTK; Obama Air Force One Sneakers by Van; Obama Force One by Jimm Lasser. What an interesting way to combine their artist talents and passion for politics together into a pair of custom sneakers. I thought these Obama shoes all look very unique. Personally I like the Van's rendition best. The portraits of Barack Obama on each shoe illustrate two different facial expressions of the President Elect. And his two famous sayings "Change" and "Yes we can" are seen on outer side of the shoes.
